Sermon:

WHAT TO DO WHEN WE ARE CONFUSED OR BESEIGED WITH DOUBTS

text:

Luke 7:18-26

questions:

1. Go into the prison cell with John. What would have been going through his head? Why may that have been a moment where he wavered with doubt/uncertainty? What does it teach us that even someone as resolute in their commitment to God as John would be harried by doubts?

2. How did Jesus respond to John's inquiry? What does this teach us about the heart of Christ toward those who have moments or seasons of struggle with doubts?

3. When have you experienced a "dark night of the soul?" What caused it? What doubts were a part of it? What did it look like to work through it?

4. How does John's "struggle/puzzlement/doubt" in that prison cell + his response to it differ from the current spirit of "deconstruction" in evangelical circles?
